Description: The “Selected” field can have these valuesREJUV = The process starts by spraying a thin layer of asphalt rejuvenating liquid on the pavement. The spreading of a thin layer of sand then follows. The sand is placed to maintain traction while the rejuvenating liquid soaks into the pavement. It takes about 2 to 4 hours for the liquid to soak in. The next day the sand is swept up and the treated roads have a tan-brown color for about a month. SEALCOAT = The process starts by spraying a thin layer of asphalt and water emulsion over the pavement. The spreading of a thin layer of small gravel then follows. Afterward, the surface is rolled with a six-ton rubber tire roller and the street is reopened to traffic. A vacuum street sweeper sweeps up excess gravel the following day. It takes about a month for the new surface to completely cure and lock firmly into place and the road is open to regular traffic during this phase.GRADE6 = the same method as SEALCOAT, with a specific small size grade 6 rock used. The smaller rock packs in tighter, which makes for a smoother surface, but recent experience is that the smaller rock also crumbles easier, creating dusty road conditions.CDS = Cul-De-Sac resurfacing with Type-F fine mix asphalt. The asphalt is applied ¾ inch thick and compacted tight with a steel wheel roller and then rolled smooth with a rubber tire pneumatic roller. This asphaltic treatment type is used in the cul-de-sacs, to resist the shearing action created by the tandem wheel sets on garbage trucks turning around.TYPE F = Another naming convention for the Type-F fine mix asphalt applied to the cul-de-sacs.HMAC = Hot-Mix Asphaltic Concrete that is applied 1&1/2 to 2 inches thick, and compacted tight with a steel wheel roller and then rolled smooth with a rubber tire pneumatic roller. MOL = Mill and Overlay process, where the old asphalt is removed to a depth of 1&1/2 to 2 inches deep and then new HMAC placed. This method is used so the new asphalt layer matches the same elevations at the gutter lines and utility manholes and valves can remain at the same level as pre-paving conditions.RECYCYLE = The process starts by a large rotary mixer that pulverizes the top 8 to 12 inches of the roadway. Powered cement is spread on the surface and water applied. Then the rotary mixer makes another pass to mix the concrete, water, and road material together. A steel wheel roller is used to compact the surface tight so traffic can drive on it. The road is then resurfaced with sealcoat application (in the warmer months) and then a 2 inch HMAC surface is applied.RECLAMATION = The process starts by a large rotary mixer that pulverizes the top 8 to 12 inches of the roadway. Polymer modified emulsion is then mixed into the surface. And then a steel wheel roller is used to compact the surface tight so traffic can drive on it. The road is then resurfaced with sealcoat application. Depending on the performance of the material and traffic volumes, the road may also have a 2 inch HMAC surface applied.
